Sam Hannaford and Trustee Alison Raynsford were asked to speak to the 300 guests about the importance of the funding Horizons Plymouth has received from DCF.

Sam, speaking in public for the first time, spoke about how important coming to Horizons was for him and how he gained in confidence.  Alison highlighted the way in which the money had been spent including the training of our marvellous volunteers, our motor boat, Pico’s and the list goes on.  Their funding is vital in helping us to continue supporting disadvantaged and disabled young people to access water based activities, helping to boost confidence and raise aspirations.

Horizons were one of only a handful of charities asked to speak because we were the recipient of the first ever grant from DCF.  It was a terrific opportunity not only to thank DCF for their support but also to talk about the great work which Horizons’ staff and volunteers do with young people.
