On the first night of the Fireworks Championships we took ‘Friendship’ out with a VIP crew from the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust. Four young people in wheelchairs along with their carers enjoyed the spectacular display from an anchorage just south of the Mount Batten breakwater.
‘Friendship’ was specially designed to enable groups like this to enjoy being out on the water. It is great to see her being used to bring pleasure to this special group, along with the thousands of others watching the fireworks in Plymouth.
We carried out a special risk assessment as it’s unusual for us to take ‘Friendship’ out in the dark, but our well-equipped vessel – and the expert Horizons’ crew – brought everyone home safely after a memorable trip.
