Horizons does not receive any statutory funding from Government or Local Authority, so we rely entirely on public generosity and having to compete for grants from charitable trusts.
Although we love taking the young people out on the water, we also have to spend a lot of time raising funds and applying for grants so that we can maintain our boats and do everything safely. It may surprise you to know that it costs about £2,000 a week to keep Horizons afloat.

Make a Cash Donation
A cash donation can go straight towards supporting our core activities. If you are a UK taxpayer you can Gift Aid your donation and that means we can claim the tax back and increase the value of your gift. Please contact us for details.
You might like to target your donation towards a particular project, or help us match the funding from a grant provider. It’s especially helpful if you can make a regular donation because that helps us with with our future planning.
If you would like to build a relationship with Horizons, perhaps through your business or other corporate body, we would be very happy to offer you a sponsorship opportunity. We can easily create publicity and events that deliver value back to the sponsor.
Donations of Equipment, Time and Expertise
Horizons needs a lot of equipment and a wide range of skills to run what is now quite a large operation. If you have any unused but serviceable equipment that fits our needs, or have any skills and expertise that we can use – please get in touch!
100 Club Lottery
We have a monthly 100 numbers draw, each number costs £1.00 and the fund is divided equally between Horizons and the lucky winners. Contact Horizons for more information on how to join in.
Organise a Fund-Raising Event
You might like to get together with friends or family to organise an event to raise funds for Horizons. We can provide you with collection boxes – and lots of ideas!
We have collection boxes and posters that can be placed in prominent locations to raise funds. If you know somewhere that does not already have a charity box and is willing to take one of ours please contact us.
Our Business Manager Annette is a key source of information about Fundraising, but all Horizons Staff and Trustees are involved in the effort and you can talk to any of them about your ideas.
