Did you know that it costs about £2,500 a week to keep Horizons running?

Horizons does not receive any statutory funding from the Government or Local Authority. In order to keep our projects going it is essential that we raise income through public donations, and charity funding grants. There are lots of local charities doing great work in their communities, so it can be very competitive to get funding from charitable trusts and grant giving bodies.

Horizons fundraiser, Kathy, and our team work hard to secure the income needed to keep Horizons afloat, and we would welcome your help and support.

You can read our Community Impact Report to find out more about our work, and how we help local young people through our inclusive sailing and motorboating activities.

Horizons Plymouth Community Impact Report 2022.

We fundraise for our individual projects:

We also fundraise for our essential core running costs which include:

  • Mooring/Boat Storage
  • Fuel for our boats (Safetyboats, Friendship and Hawk 20 keelboats)
  • Boat maintenance
  • Site rental
  • Insurance
  • Minibus operating costs
  • Staff wages

Some ways you can help us with Fundraising:

Make a Cash or BACS Donation

Cash donations can go towards meeting our essential core running costs, which helps us to continue our great projects work.

If you are a UK taxpayer you can “Gift Aid” your donation, this means we can claim the tax back and increase the value of your gift. (Please use “Donation” as a reference when making BACS donations).

Regular Donation

Regular donations are especially helpful, even if they are small, because they help us to plan for the future. You can make a general donation, or ask for your donation to be used to support a particular project.

Sponsorship

If you would like to have an ongoing connection with Horizons, perhaps through your business or other corporate body, we are happy to discuss sponsorship opportunities. We can work with you to generate publicity and draw attention to your contribution to the local community through supporting Horizons.

Donations of Equipment, Time and Expertise

If you have any unwanted equipment please let us know because often we can sell it to raise funds.

If you have skills and experience that may be helpful whether in sailing, boat maintenance, fundraising, identifying local partnerships, or anything else that you think might be helpful then please talk to us about it!

100 Club Lottery

We have a monthly 100 numbers draw, each number costs £1.00 and the fund is divided equally between Horizons and the lucky winners. Contact Horizons for more information on how to join in.

Organise a Fund-Raising Event

You might like to get together with friends or family to organise an event to raise funds for Horizons. We can provide you with collection boxes – and lots of ideas!

Collection Boxes

We have collection boxes available. If you know any local business that might be happy to display one for us please let us know.

Our Fundraiser, Kathy, is a key source of information about Fundraising, but all Horizons Staff and Trustees are involved in the effort and you can talk to any of them about your ideas.

Call Kathy on 01752 605800/07938 601920 or email us.
