HORIZONS STAFF CHANGES

STAFF CHANGES

Jon Worster is set to retire at the end of this sailing season.

Everyone at Horizons knows Jon. He has been part of Horizons since the beginning;  from the fitting out of ‘Friendship’ to the expansion of the fleet we have today. Jon has been there throughout and his passion for what can be achieved through the work of Horizons is clear to us all. We have benefited greatly from his skills and experience.  We will find time to say a proper thank-you to Jon before he retires on 31 October.

Simon Mace is currently our Chief Sailing Instructor. We are delighted to tell you that when Jon retires Simon will be promoted to Operations Manager. Simon has been an important part of Horizons for several years and knows the organisation well. We are confident that his sailing and management skills will ensure continued success.

Annette Molloy continues in her role as Business Manager – supporting the water borne activities and also raising vital funds and maintaining the administrative side of this busy charity. As the operational staff change, we will have the peace of mind that Annette will be working to keep things moving on an even keel.

We need to find the right person to fill the Chief Instructor post which will be vacated by Simon. As part of the personnel changes, we have reviewed the Job Descriptions of our core staff and will be looking for someone with not only the necessary paper qualifications, but also the depth of experience to match our particular operational needs. Keeping our cadets, volunteers and staff safe on the water is paramount and we will be looking for the successful candidate to demonstrate their ability to be able to do that, as well as being part of the Horizons Management Team.

More information on these changes will be posted here and in e-news as we move towards the end of the season.

Keep sailing!
