Volunteer Training

RYA Keelboat Instructor Training
We are looking at running some further development for our more experienced volunteers.
If you are interested in becoming an RYA Keelboat Instructor then please get in touch. I will hold an evening session to explain what is involved and how we would aim to get you to the required level.

As a rough guide:

Your sailing ability should be to the minimum level of RYA Seamanship Skills
You should hold or be willing to complete the pre-requisites listed below:

  • Minimum age of 16
  • Hold a valid RYA First Aid certificate, or another acceptable first aid qualification as detailed on the RYA website
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2
  • Pre-entry sailing assessment completed within one year prior to the instructor training course. This will include task such as:
    Sail around a triangular course
    Sail a tight circular course
Sail a follow my leader course
Pick up a man overboard dummy
  • RYA Membership
  • RYA Safe and Fun (Safeguarding course)

We are able to deliver a course for up to 6 candidates, and would be looking to get started when the boats go back in the water.
If you are an existing RYA Dinghy Instructor and are interested in doing a 2 day RYA Keelboat Instructor endorsement then please let me know, and we will arrange one.

Thanks,

Simon
