WHAT WE DO
Sailing Club
-
Our recreational sailing sessions run on Thursday evening 16:30-19:00 as well as Saturday mornings 09:00-12:00
-
These start after the Easter holidays and finish at October half term.
-
We ask for a voluntary donation of £2 per session
-
We have a mixture of abilities within our members, so if sailing is completely new to you, or you’re the next Olympic sailor, these sessions are great for everyone.
Schools Project
-
Throughout the school term time, we run educational activities for local Schools which can be tailored to each individual school’s requirements.
-
We can concentrate on specific topics in the National Curriculum as well as working on the Children and Young People’s well-being and mental health.
Group Activities
Hawk 20 Keelboats
-
We can take groups out sailing on our fleet of Hawk20 Keelboats
-
These boats are very stable and are ideal for beginners and those who enjoy the feeling of the wind in your hair.
-
We can offer a 3 hour session which is perfect for exploring Plymouth Sound or the River Tamar.
-
If you wanted something a little longer, we can also offer a 6 hour session where we can go further and maybe even enjoy a picnic onboard!
Group Activities
Friendship of Plymouth
-
If sailing is not quite your thing, we also have a 31ft Motorboat called, Friendship of Plymouth.
-
‘Friendship’ is a purpose built workboat specifically designed to carry wheelchair users in comfort and style!
-
As well as wheelchair users, she is also able to take up to 12 ambulant walk-on passengers.
-
She is the perfect platform to enjoy a picnic on the water as well as doing some sightseeing throughout Plymouth Sound and the surrounding rivers. Like the Keelboats, we can offer 3 or 6 hour sessions.
Horizons Winter Youth Project
-
Although you can sometimes get some glorious sunny days, 90% of the time, sailing throughout the winter months can be very challenging!
-
To keep our members engaged until we can get out of the water again, we run a land based activities.
-
Some of these activities typically include – archery, bowling, trampolining, rock climbing, forest school and trips to our local search and rescue helicopter.
-
We try and keep these weekly activities as accessible as possible and therefore a lot of the sessions are financially subsidised.
